Dior had a love for art and initially pursued a career as an art dealer. However, he eventually decided to pursue his passion for fashion and began working for the fashion designer Robert Piguet in 1938. During World War II, Dior served in the French army and was taken prisoner by the Germans. After his release in 1941, he returned to Paris and began designing for the fashion house of Lucien Lelong.

The history of Gucci began in 1921, when Guccio Gucci founded a small leather goods and luggage company in Florence, Italy. Gucci’s early designs were influenced by his experiences working as a hotel porter and the high-end luggage he saw wealthy guests carrying. The company quickly gained a reputation for quality and craftsmanship, and by the 1930s, Gucci had opened stores in Rome and Milan.

Chanel is a luxury fashion house that has been defining style and elegance for over a century. The brand was founded by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel in 1910, and has since become one of the most recognizable and sought-after names in the fashion industry.

The brand Louis Vuitton, shortened to LV, was founded in Paris 1854 by (you guessed correctly) Louis Vuitton. Prior to being known for the beautiful leather goods, Louis Vuitton was actually a trunk-maker for Eugénie de Montijo, wife of Napoleon lll. He learnt making trunks by Monsieur Marechal while he left his home at age of 13 after his father’s death. The reason he left his home in Anchay was his rocky relationship with his stepmother. Kind of sounds like the cinderella story, right?

Prada was started in 1913 by Mario Prada and his brother Martino. It all started as a leather goods shop ‘Fratelli Prada’ in Milan, Italy. We totally recommend to visit Milan if you’re up to a good shopping spree!
