The vintage Louis Vuitton Alma
If you’re a Louis Vuitton fan you will know the Alma bag, named after the Alma bridge in Paris. And even though they still produce this beauty nowadays, it has been around for a long time! In fact, the Alma was the second handbag that the luxury house produced, after the well-known Louis Vuitton Speedy. The bag was created in 1934 by Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the son of Georges Ferréol Vuitton and also known as the collector. Rumour says that the design of the Alma bag was originally made for Coco Chanel in 1925. However, Coco apparently gave the permission to produce the bag for the public later on.
You can find the Alma bag on many celebrities, including Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus and do you remember the Iconic picture of Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian in 2006 with their Louis Vuitton Monogram Miroir Alma bags in silver and gold? Well, we can safely say that you can never go wrong with the Louis Vuitton Alma bag around your arm!
The LV Alma sizes and details
The vintage Alma bag was originally crafted from the Monogram Canvas and was made in one size: w31cm x H24cm x D17cm (approx). Later on, the Damier Ebenne and Damier Azur Alma hit the market, as well as the Alma in Epi Leather and the Miroir. Nowadays the Louis Vuitton alma is made into different sizes as well:
Nano Alma: w18cm
Alma Mini: w21cm
Alma BB: w23cm
Alma PM: w31cm
Alma MM: w36cm
You will immediately recognise the Alma by the stuning round shape. The bag ahs two zippers and also comes with a LV lock to secure the bag. The round handles and the bottom part of the Monogram Alma is made from the Vachetta leather. The inside on the bag has one large compartment with a pocket on one side of the bag. However, every size has a different inside compartment. For example, the Alma BB has one pocket, while the Alma MM has two pockets inside.
You can find the Louis Vuitton stamp on the outside off the bag on one of the sides. If the bag has the date code, you should be able to find it on the inside of the pocket.
How to style the Alma bag
Because the Alma bag comes in so many colours and materials, it’s such a versatile piece! The Alma BB from Louis Vuitton comes with the removable strap so you can wear it either crossbody or as a handbag. We personally think that the Alma is perfect for every day, but will also look very classy on a night out. With the other Alma bags, you could also add a strap yourself!
Our favourite has to be the Louis Vuitton Vintage Alma, because we are definitely vintage lovers!
