The LV Cartouchière is one of our favourite crossbody bags Louis Vuitton designed. The bag was introduced around 1980, so if you’re lucky you will find a real vintage piece! Nowadays Louis Vuitton discontinued the production of this bag, so it’s no longer possible to buy a new one at the stores. That’s why this is a very popular beauty among the vintage lovers, and we understand why. We personally think that this is the perfect everyday bag; the leather crossbody strap is adjustable so you can wear it very long, but you can also make it shorter to wear it like a shoulder bag. The beautiful Monogram Canvas gives the Cartouchière the luxury feel and look that you expect from every Louis Vuitton bag. The Louis Vuitton Cartouchière sizes and details
The Cartouchière was made in three different sizes like most of the Louis Vuitton bags: Louis Vuitton Cartouchière PM, Louis Vuitton Cartouchière MM and the Cartouchière GM. Here you will find the measurements of each size:
PM (Petit): 16,5 x 5 x 15,5 CM
MM (Moyen): 21 x 7,5 x 18 CM
GM (Grand): 24 x 8 x 22 CM
Like we mentioned before; all sizes will fit your essentials like keys, passport, wallet and other accessories. The picture above is in size PM. The leather of the strap and on the sides of the bag is made out of Vachetta leather, which is mainly known from the Louis Vuitton bags and the beautiful colour it will gain over time. Tip: this is also a good indicator if your bag is real or not! If the bag will not colour over time it is possible that it’s not made from real leather (and a fake Louis Vuitton bag).
Date code LV Cartouchière
The LV Cartouchière date code can be (most of the times) found on the inside in the left corner of the front leather. Sometimes it’s very hard to see the date code because it’s imprinted in the leather. Tip: use your flashlight to see it better. You have to keep in mind that Louis Vuitton started using the date codes around 1980, the same period as this bag was created. That’s why it is possible that a vintage Cartouchière doesn’t have the date code. So no date code doesn’t necessarily mean that the LV bag is fake.
